Signals for Schools, Post-Pandemic

One cannot deny that the COVID-19 pandemic has divided our country and significantly reshaped our lives. Its effects on children’s health and well-being have become a great concern. Being that I am in the education and mental health space as the Executive Director of the Howe Community Resource Center, I can’t ignore the blatant signals that, although we are no longer in a pandemic, the effects will last long beyond this generation, touching generations to come.

Futuring’s Intersection with Catholic Education

For the high school administrator, the summer months allow for a refocusing of attention.  The fast-paced schedule dictated by needs of students and families, compounded by activities and athletics, gives way to a time for reflecting upon results and horizons for future planning. And so I have been reflecting on the “futuring” process I learned as part of Envision Greater Green Bay and its intersection with education, particularly Catholic education.

SF Grad Replicates Futuring Workshops

“You’ve given me an accessible way to consider what might be coming for our campus.” That’s one of the encouraging responses I received from colleagues recently as we wrapped up our own 3-session virtual webinar series called “The Future of Higher Education.” Inspired by my experience in the Envision Foresight workshops with Garry Golden, and with the support of my Provost and colleagues, I led a work group which planned and offered the series this spring.
